About us
The International Dental Organisation – UK (IDO UK) is a not for profit organisation dedicated to advancing dental education and supporting individuals who face barriers to learning due to financial hardship or challenges with mental wellbeing. While based in the UK, IDO UK extends its support globally, including to aspiring dental professionals in India, helping to make dental education more accessible and inclusive.
We believe education has the power to transform lives. Many individuals pursing dentistry education face financial and personal challenges that limit opportunities for learning progression and growth. IDO UK exists to remove these barriers and create a supportive pathway into dental education and the dental profession, both in the UK and India.
Our work combines financial assistance, peer support, and educational guidance. We award grants to help individuals fund their dental studies, while also providing access to peer networks that foster connection, resilience, and wellbeing. In India, we offer tailored support to navigate local educational systems while providing access to international resources and educational development opportunities.
IDO UK also raises awareness of learning resources, training programs, and career pathways, empowering beneficiaries with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to succeed in their dentistry education.
Through these initiatives, we aim to advance dental education, promote personal wellbeing, reduce inequality in access to learning, and help individuals improve their quality of life. Our long-term vision is a dental education that is compassionate, inclusive, and accessible — supporting individuals academically, as they pursue meaningful careers in dentistry.
Who We Support
IDO UK supports individuals who aspire to study or progress within dentistry but face obstacles that limit their access to education.
Our beneficiaries include:
1. Individuals pursuing or seeking to pursue dental education or training
2. Those experiencing financial hardship that affects their ability to access or continue education
3. Individuals facing mental health or wellbeing challenges that impact their educational journey
We are committed to supporting beneficiaries in a fair, compassionate, and respectful manner. Our focus is on those who demonstrate genuine need and a commitment to advancing their education, with the aim of improving their personal circumstances and future opportunities.
What We Offer
Educational Grants
We provide financial grants to individuals who are experiencing financial hardship, helping to fund dental education, training, and related learning costs. These grants are designed to support beneficiaries in continuing or advancing their education and improving their long-term prospects.
Peer Support and Wellbeing
We promote personal wellbeing by facilitating peer support within the dental community. Through shared experiences, guidance, and encouragement, we aim to reduce isolation, build resilience, and support individuals facing mental wellbeing challenges alongside their educational journey.
Educational Awareness and Guidance
We raise awareness of available educational resources, learning pathways, and support services that can help beneficiaries progress in dental education. By signposting individuals to appropriate opportunities, we empower them to make informed decisions about their education and professional development.
